Language: Indonesian (locally referred to as Bahasa Indonesia) is the primary language. Indonesian is spoken by the majority of the population, but it is the primary language of only 20% of the population. Javanese (Jawa) is the most common primary language,English is not widely spoken, however, an acceptable level of English can be understood in a number of major cities and tourists’ destinations including Bali, Batam, Jakarta, Bandung, Surabaya, and Yogyakarta. Moreover, most hotel and airline staff can also communicate in English on a basic to moderate level.
Currency: Indonesian rupiah. Cash machines are widespread across Indonesia’s cities and tourist areas. But it is always better to use them at a bank, rather than elsewhere.
Electricity: In Indonesia the power plugs and sockets are of type C and F. The standard voltage is 230 V and the standard frequency is 50 Hz.
Time zone : The Indonesian archipelago geographically stretches across four time zones from UTC+06:00 in Aceh to UTC+09:00 in Western New Guinea.
