ABOUT
Florida is the southernmost state in the continental United States of America. Known as “The Sunshine State”, over a century ago it became a popular winter destination for the well-to-do from colder climates; it has grown to become the second-most visited state in the nation. Tourists have long been drawn to it by its white-sand beaches and unique and diverse cities. Since the mid-twentieth century, world-class theme parks and attractions have become a top draw as well.
The state’s roots in agriculture are still relevant, with oranges being a chief export. Untouched natural landscapes teeming with wildlife exist in vast areas, sometimes very close to cities, and there are miles of rivers and trails for the intrepid visitor. Some of the best secrets are charming small towns and other places in secluded locations, away from the crowded tourist areas but certainly worth seeing. Regardless of preference, Florida has something to offer any kind of traveler.

Florida Panhandle (Emerald Coast, Forgotten Coast, Middle, West )
The Florida panhandle is a “Deep South” region of antebellum plantations, red hills, and white sand beaches. Cities include the state capital of Tallahassee, Destin, Pensacola, and Panama City Beach.
North Florida (Northeast, North Central , Nature Coast)
Along with the panhandle, North Florida is the most culturally “Southern” part of Florida, anchored by the city of Jacksonville. Historic St. Augustine and the college town of Gainesville are other destinations. The famed Suwannee River flows through the region.
Central Florida (West Central , East Central)
Central Florida is historically an agricultural region, growing citrus, strawberries and cotton, along with cattle ranching. Though this culture still exists, much of Central Florida has evolved into a mix of Southern and cosmopolitan identity. The region has become home to a number of iconic attractions, including Walt Disney World, SeaWorld, Kennedy Space Center, Daytona International Speedway, Gatorland and Universal Orlando.
South Florida Florida Gold Coast, Treasure Coast, Southwest, and the Keys) Home to the beaches of Miami, the swamps of the Everglades, and the beauty of the Florida Keys. While much of the area is now diverse, the “Florida Heartland” region still maintains the Southern Culture of an earlier South Florida.

Entering the United States
Generally, a citizen of a foreign country who wishes to enter the United States must first obtain a visa, either a nonimmigrant visa for a temporary stay, or an immigrant visa for permanent residence.
A visa allows a foreign citizen to travel to a U.S. port-of-entry (generally an airport) and request permission to enter the United States. A visa does not guarantee entry into the United States. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS), U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officials at the port-of-entry have authority to permit or deny admission to the United States. If you are allowed to enter the United States, the CBP official will provide an admission stamp or a paper Form I-94, Arrival/Departure Record. Visa Waiver Program
The Visa Waiver Program (VWP) enables most citizens or nationals of participating countries to travel to the United States for tourism or business for stays of 90 days or less without obtaining a visa. Travelers must have a valid Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) approval prior to travel and meet all requirements explained below.

Driving : Traveling by car is the most common and most convenient way to get around the state for travelers and locals alike. For the traveler car rental agencies are abound, and many are available at every major airport. Orlando, in particular, is known as the “Car Rental Capital of the World”. With Florida being the most visited state in the US, car rental rates here are among (if not the) lowest rates in the country due to sheer volume.
Plane : Flying may be a reasonable option for moving within Florida especially if disembarking from an international flight and connecting to another city in the state.

Language: English is the official language of the state. However, Spanish is the native language of approximately 20% of Florida residents, and the further south you go, the more Spanish speakers there will be
Currency: U.S. $ which is made up of 100 cents. Cash and Credit cards are widely accepted.- However Debit card (such as Maestro) tend not to be accepted widely and do carry fees depending on your financial institution. It is always wise to have a mix of cash and credit card available when you travel and Florida is no exception. Cash machines are widely available throughout.
Electricity: In the United States of America the standard voltage is 120 V and the frequency is 60 Hz. If the standard voltage in your country is in the range of 220 – 240 V (as is in the UK, Europe, Asia, Africa and Australia) you will need a “converter”, while your may use it with a “simple” adapter.
