ABOUT INDONESIA

This captivating nation of over 17,000 islands, including Sumatra, Java, Sulawesi, and parts of Borneo and New Guinea. Indonesia is the world’s largest island country and has immense potential for adventures, it is therefore a perfect destination for the sheer range of experiences it has to offer.
The climate tends to be relatively even year-round. It has two seasons: a wet season and a dry season.

Climate is almost entirely tropical, dominated by the tropical rainforest climate found in every large island of Indonesia Nature and culture are prime attractions of Indonesian tourism.

Other Airports that also serve international flights include Juanda Airport in Surabaya, Hasanudin Airport in Makassar, and Kuala Namu in Medan. The recently established West Java International Airport in Majalengka, West Java Province about 68Km from Bandung also serves numerous international flights.l

BEFORE YOU GO

Starting February 14, 2024, international visitors to Bali must pay a one-time fee of IDR150,000 (USD 10) per visit/arrival. Adults and children of all ages are included. Payment can be conveniently made through the Love Bali website or App before arrival, with a tourism levy voucher and QR code provided via email for scanning at checkpoints. For those unable to pay online, cashless transactions can be made at Bank counters at Bali International Airport.

ONCE YOU ARE THERE

You will need to complete a Passenger Arrival Card before passing through Customs Passport Control. A passenger arrival card will be given to you during your flight; if not, cards are available in the arrival area.

Delays are common to all forms of transport, to save yourself a good deal of stress, keep your schedule as flexible as possible.

Plane : Flights can be a quicker and cheaper way to travel between the Indonesian islands.  You can get connecting flights to reach the secondary cities and islands across the archipelago

Boat : Public ferries run regularly between neighbouring islands, such as between Sumatra and Java, Java and Bali, and Bali and Lombok.

Buses : Public busses are available in large cities with a certain route on an affordable price. In cities, color-coded or numbered minibuses known as angkots A more pleasant alternative to big buses and angkots is tourist shuttle buses. 

Train : Train travel is restricted to Java and a small network in Sumatra. The railways are operated by PT. Kereta Api Indonesia, with tracks spanned across all provinces in Java, selected provinces in Sumatra, and are on its progress to be completed in Sulawesi to connect 23 train stations between Makassar and Parepare.These trains are known as Kereta Wisata or Tourism Trains, named as Kereta Nusantara, Kereta Sumatera, Kereta Jawa, Kereta Bali, Kereta Toraja, Kereta Priority and Kereta Imperial.  

Driving : If you prefer driving. Renting a car is easy with our booking system. You’ll be able to collect a hire car from all major airports and cities.

Driving in Bali and other cities is a totally different experience than it is in the U.S. or Europe. Drivers on the road tend to follow different rules; if not used to it seem that there are no rules. In Indonesia, the traffic moves on the left hand side and cars overtake on the right.

USEFUL INFORMATION

Language: Indonesian (locally referred to as Bahasa Indonesia) is the primary language. And is spoken by the majority of the population, but it is the primary language of only 20% of the population. Javanese (Jawa) is the most common primary language, English is not widely spoken, however, an acceptable level of English can be understood in a number of major cities and tourists’ destinations including Bali, Batam, Jakarta, Bandung, Surabaya, and Yogyakarta. Moreover, most hotel and airline staff can also communicate in English on a basic to moderate level.

Currency: Indonesian rupiah. Cash machines are widespread across Indonesia’s cities and tourist areas. But it is always better to use them at a bank, rather than elsewhere.

Electricity: In Indonesia the power plugs and sockets are of type C and F. The standard voltage is 230 V and the standard frequency is 50 Hz.

Time zone : The Indonesian archipelago geographically stretches across four time zones from UTC+06:00 in Aceh to UTC+09:00 in Western New Guinea.
